Nga ekzaminimet mjekesore rezultoi se Romero eshte i detyruar te qendroje jashte fushave te lojes per 1 muaj, nderkohe qe Kupa e Botes nis pas 3 javesh. Ky eshtr edicioni i trete i Boterorit qe nuk do te shohe Romeron protagonost pas atyre te 2010 ne Afriken e Jugut dhe 2014 te Brazilit. Vendin e Romeros te Argjentina per Boterorin 2018 do ta marre Nahuel Guzman i skuadres Tigres.
